Worship with us
There is no place, like this place, anywhere near this place. So this must be the place, because the Lord is in this place.
Welcome to the Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, the church where the Spirit of God dwells. We invite you to worship with us during any of our weekly scheduled services. Our prayer is that your visit will be spiritually rejuvenating and that the refreshing rain of the Holy Spirit will make a deposit in your life.
The Church is the place where people gather together to worship God. It is a place of healing and restoration; a place where our faith is built up in Jesus Christ; a place where we are trained to reach the lost and dying of the world.
There are a vast number of ministries carried on by our Church. We Care About People. We are concerned for a hurting world. We want to share God’s love. Mount Airy Church is blessed to have outstanding, dedicated and gifted clergy supported by a great host of laymen. We feel that each member has been called to Servant Leadership, committed as a team, seeking to build a viable representation of the Kingdom of God through Mount Airy Church.
Mission Statement
To Fulfill the Great Commission:
“To go into all the world and preach
the gospel to every creature”
To Fulfill the Great Commandment:
“To love your neighbor as yourself”
To Accept the Great Challenge:
“To enhance the quality of life of our fellow man through service to our community”
What We Believe
We Believe man by nature is sinful. Man has fallen from the glorious and righteous state in which he was created and became unrighteous and unholy. Therefore, to be restored back to the state of holiness from which he has fallen, he must be born again.
We Believe Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, “all things were created by Him and without Him was not anything made.” It is through faith and belief in Him that a person is saved, for in Him is life.
We Believe you need to be saved. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
We Believe you cannot save yourself. “By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16) “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is as filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6)
We Believe God provided salvation through His Son. “But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:16)
We Believe if you would accept Jesus Christ today, you will be saved. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved.” (Acts 16:31) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
The Way & The Way We Worship
Why Do We Worship?
“Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall thou serve.”
(Matthew 4:10) (Psalms 95:6) (Revelation 15:4)
Why Should We Worship God?
“God is a spirit and they that worship Him. Must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)
Why Do We Lift Our Hands?
“Lift your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.”
(Psalms 134:2)
Why Do We Give Audible Praise Unto God?
“Bless the Lord O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”
(Psalms 103:1) (Revelation 19:1-6)
Why Do we Prophesy?
“But he that prophesieth speaketh unto me to edification and exhortation and comfort.”
(I Corinthians 14:3)
Why Do We Clap Our Hands?
“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” (Psalms 47:1)
Why Do We Pray With Laying on of Hands and Anointing of Oil?
“They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:18) “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” (James 5:14)
Why Do We Use Musical Instruments?
“Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.” (Psalms 150:3-5)
Why Do We Speak in Unknown Tongues?
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal… to another divers kinds of tongues;
to another the interpretation of tongues.” (I Corinthians 12:7-10)
